Colour Mixing Disaster

My soap box is running low in soap bars. I decided to make a log of soap for myself and try one of the new fragrances I bought months back.

I reckon blue goes very well with yellow. Got some blue and yellow pigments ready. When I poured in the blackcurrant & nectarine fragrance oil (the fragrance oil I never tried), the oil mixture became very yellow.

The "primary colours" learnt in elementary school suddenly came in handy. If I mixed in the blue pigment it would go GREEN!

I didn't care, the blue pigment went in anyway. The soaps looked fresh green to begin with, then dull green and now they look like charcoal. I created some ugly looking monkeys, yuck!

Don't you just hate nasty surprises?

It's Murphy's Law,anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. For sure I had nasty surprises. But the soap still looks ok to me. Hehe. The pattern is like flower. nice.

It still looks good to me. I like the swirls of yellow against the grey.

Honestly, I haste nasty mishaps but your soaps look good to me. I can see the imperfection you're trying to say but overall, it's an artwork still.

I don't know, they all look great to me. I like the swirls of yellow too. Blackcurrent and nectarine? I can imagine their aroma. Yum! too.

HappySurfer,
It sure does smell fruity, just not visually nice.

Zewt,
actually, didn't quite turn out blue. Now, it looks really dark. Thanks for the link, I'll take it as an evolution of your name than. I'm not good at written chinese so can't really imagine it :o)

Eh.. not too bad ah. I quite like the colors. Anyway, if you are going to use it.. it doesn't smell funny and it's good for your skin, it's good enough for me.

When my uncle's shop was razed by fire many years ago, there were many boxes left over soaps with dirty packaging due to the soot. But then, the soaps could still be used. Some soap are even charred at some sides.. we still use it.. don't waste mah.. and we had free soap for a year. Haha!

Gina,
Everything is still good just colours are ugly. Will definitely still use them. Well, if you visit maybe I can give you some too :o)

Hey Ai Shang,

Don't be too hard on yourself about this batch - like all have mentioned so far, the pattern is still gorgeous! :p

Yes it's been a while since I've updated the blogspot site. Some things have changed with regards to how the business is being run, so now I've actually got my official website up, it's www.kindersoaps.com. I'll be much more diligent in updating that one! ;)

Hope you're well. You take such amazing photos, by the way. Keep 'em coming.
