I Need The Vitamin D

It had been raining straight for days in the past week. I should not be deterred by it, but seriously it was raining cats and dogs and I didn't think an umbrella would even keep me dry. Staying indoor for days made me sick - not literally.

Finally the sun shines! I can have my vitamin D! Isn't it strange that everyone here thinks tanned is beautiful and in Asia, they think as pale as a corpse is gorgeous.

One of my aunts, she was crazy (not literally). She liked to compare, with me, to see who had fairer complexion. She worked in an air-conditioned room. I was a student then, running back and forth to school everyday under the hot sun, what do you think? I looked like a piece of burnt squid. Well, she always ended up feeling happy after showing me her arms.

Anyway, it was a beautiful sunny Sunday, I was strolling in Hyde Park right in the CBD. This place was usually packed with tourists getting their photos taken. Where were they? I hope it was not because of the economy.

it is still prevalent. the market looks at fair is beautiful. there is a big market for creams, soaps etc to maintain that fair look :)

That obessesion with being fair in Asia and tanned elsewhere (as in in other parts of the world)is true. Caucasians like the tanned look while we Asians shun the sun. I guess some of us would be the laughing stock sporting an umbrella at the beach or in the hot sun. I don't see Aussies sporting umbrellas on sunny days unlike us here :)

The economy is getting bad and the H1N1 flu also drove some people away from holidays. Hope things will change better soon. I missed Hyde Park when I visit Sydney last time. The photo you taken is nice. The sky is really clear.

Yes Asians are so obsessed with being fair while Westerners like to be tanned. That's why those whitening skin care products are so popular in Asia!

I like some sun too but I also love the rain! I like cloudy days where it's not raining and not too hot - that's the best time to go outdoors! : )

true true abour the complexion issues. people love my tan/fair complexion here and they try to soak under the sun while I try to avoid it. hehe

The picture looks like an architectural rendered presentation. =) Hmmm, I can see there aren't much people.

Yes, fair is beautiful in Asia, tanned is a big business here. Everyone wants to look dark/tanned :o) People are very satisfied huh?

Mei Teng,
Good Morning, you are so early. I know what you mean. Sometime when I see some ladies carrying umbrellas, a question mark suddenly pops up in my head.

Sure hope everything will recover soon. And thank you for your compliment.

People can never just be happy with how they look, don't they? I love cloudy days when I was still in Msia. If it rains at night, even better for sleep in.

I think you look quite fair from your photos :o)

Those people were probably still asleep.

Lack of sun can definitely have a psychological affect on a persons well being. I don't mind a mix of weather. Too much rain and cloud, such as what we had here for a week, can definitely drain your energy. I like the sun but definitely do not worship it as some of the younger people do. I tend to burn more than tan anyway. Love your pic; it almost looks like a postcard.

I agree. I heard from somewhere that those countries that get lesser sunshine have more people in depression. Places like somewhere in Europe (those mountainous places). It is the sun that we human existed.

Good photo.
Are you there walking on the street?

Different templates have different configurations, I'm not sure if you have this option. You can go to Layout, select "fonts and colors" tab, find "header text/font", then click on "smaller/larger" font.

If you don't have that option, you can insert text in "Paint" it is an application comes with any standard computer, if you are using normal none MacIntoch computer then it is located at "Start" then go to "Accessories". Insert your text size there and upload your photo accordingly.

Otherwise, your compact camera should have a software that comes with it, you also can insert text there to the type and size you wish.

There you go, 3 options. I'm sure one of them will work :o)

You're welcome. Do trial and error several times, I'm sure one of them will work out for you.

I think it's because of the H1N1 flu that not many tourists are in Australia.

No matter how much whitening I use, I will never be fair. I am born tanned. LOL! My room mate back in college used to be very jealous of my "healthy tan". LOL!

Good shot! Very nice angle!

LOL! Even the sun is not able to please everyone.

The H1N1 flu is dealing its blow on tourism worldwide or in your case, has winter got anything to do with it?

Nice postcard-like picture, Ai Shiang. Thanks for sharing it.

I borned naturally tan so called "hitam manis" haha..

I think fairer skin look brighter and cleaner.. :p I admire those with fair skin..

Too much sun is no good becoz of *UV*

Heard that healthy sun bath should be:
1. Morning before 10am
2. Evening After 4pm

Not sure how true..

Yeah people are so preoccupied with colour. I had a friend who was traumatized because of her dark skin.

Ai Shiang said...

Hui Ming,
My husband said UV is everywhere even if you are sitting inside your home.

Your friend should come here and I'm sure people will be praising her dark skin, as that's what they like here. Tanned is beautiful.
