Dog Races

I was having a bit of fun at a dog races event near where I live during the weekend.  It is an annual event where residents of four other surrounding suburbs come together and have fun at a variety of games including dog races.

Getting the small or big dogs ready to race were very challenging indeed but some dogs seemed to know what they were up to.

The dogs owners were very enthusiastic.  Ready, set, go!  Some were puzzled, some ran half way and played with other dogs, some went straight for the finish line.  I couldn't help but had a good laugh.

Do you spend heaps of time with your pet(s)?

I never come across dog races in Spore & Msia. Perhaps peoples here love to see horse races only :D I use to have a pet dog when I was a kid but now spent heaps of time to photograph animals and insects in nearby zoo or parks instead :)

Ben,
I don't think Spore/Msia have dog races either. But this one is for fun, not for betting. I guess when time passes, hobby changes huh?

Rafael,
I'm sure Macau has all sort of betting. Fish is good. They don't run around like crazy :)

Fufu,
Oh yes, I forgot about plants. Cactus is good.

Lily Riani,
Cats are fussy but just lovable.

That must have been hilarious and a lot of fun!

My pet tale is of a different kind. I remember my neighbour kids and I had a whale of a time with a neighbour's drake (male duck). We would play tag with him. Each time we see him, we would call out "Itik gila, itik!) and he would chase us until he pecks one of us and in turn we would chase him and would repeat the chant and he would chase us back. This back-and-forth chase would continue for a few more rounds until either party gave up. What fun! Not sure though whether the old drake ended up in a wok or died of old age..

My dog used to sleep on my bed when I was a kid. Now, I can't stand having pets in my home. All the hassle and having to take care of it is really too much responsibility for me.

I watched pigs racing when I was a student in Adelaide. Was really funny.

Reanaclaire,
I bet your dog will be very excited when its evening. They just love going out.

Happysurfer,
Pet duck is very different indeed. It's weird that he knew you were making fun of him :)

Manglish,
Besides the extreme weather and high tax, I won't complain.

Bananaz,
Talking about birds, there is a flock of colourful lorikeets flying here and there in my neighbourhood. They are noisy but fun to watch when they know where food is. They are just so pretty to look at.

Mei Teng,
Haha! Pigs!? Don't they love getting different type of animals to race? If I recall correctly, they do that every easter.

It must be fun having so many dogs in one place! The noise, the sizes, shapes (and smell?). I love dogs too and I hv 2 at home :)

Macau comes to mind when I hear about dog races.

I'm not a pet person, pet fishes tend to have a short lifespan under my care.

Ai Shiang said...

Tekkaus,
Those dogs raced for fun only. Not for betting.

Horsoon,
I heard people with pets especially dogs are healthier because you walk your dogs every so often.

Ayie,
Were you pets dogs?

Shingo,
Oh! These races are for fun and not for betting like those in Macau. Although this racing track is for those greyhound races. Haha! not a very good idea to be your pet then huh? :♦)

Do you own a dog yourself? :D

Gina,
No I don't. I bet being an owner needs hard work.
